The Database Administrator at Cook County Health (CCH) plays a crucial role in supporting the Business Intelligence data warehouse. This position is primarily responsible for writing SQL queries, developing and maintaining ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) jobs, and supporting production-level dashboards and reports. The Database Administrator ensures the confidentiality, availability, and integrity of the data stored while delivering reports, datasets, and data marts to both internal and external partners of CCH. This role requires a strong understanding of database management and the ability to work with various data tools and technologies to meet the organization's data needs. In this position, the Database Administrator will execute data management activities, which include processing feeds from both internal and external vendors and instantiating the knowledge base required for effective care management. The role involves building advanced SQL queries to support ETL processes and user reports, as well as generating reports using SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) and Tableau. The Database Administrator will also plan and conduct structured testing of database designs to confirm their functionality and performance, ensuring that the databases operate at optimal levels through proper indexing techniques. Additionally, the Database Administrator will participate in project meetings, providing recommendations on quality management issues, and will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining complex data models and logical database designs. Documentation of the architecture and maintenance of data dictionaries for data marts is also a key responsibility. The role requires active participation in departmental and committee meetings and may involve performing other duties and projects as assigned.
