About the position

Ampcus Inc. is a certified global provider of a broad range of Technology and Business consulting services. We are in search of a highly motivated candidate to join our talented Team as a Database Administrator (DBA). This position is fully remote and based in Richmond, VA. The DBA will be responsible for IT activities associated with the installation, configuration, upgrading, administration, monitoring, maintenance, and security of databases within the organization. This role requires a seasoned professional with a comprehensive understanding of industry practices and a high level of work experience and proficiency in the field. The DBA will design, develop, modify, test, and evaluate programs for various functional areas. They will analyze existing programs, formulate requirements for new systems, perform coding, and test/debug programs. The DBA will follow transition and system implementation plans and recommend changes in development, maintenance, and system standards. Additionally, they will assist users in the transition and implementation of new systems/programs. In this senior-level position, the DBA will provide high-level technical support, manage database problems, and oversee change management and maintenance on systems. They will perform problem analysis for complex configurations of critical databases and handle complex installation, configuration, customization, and tuning. The DBA will also assist in strategic planning and database architecture and design, making recommendations on functional and business requirements. Participation in project activities and providing technical assistance for assigned projects will also be part of their responsibilities, along with performing other related duties as assigned. Responsibilities

  • Responsible for IT activities associated with the installation, configuration, upgrading, administration, monitoring, maintenance, and security of databases in the organization.
  • Designs, develops, modifies, tests, and evaluates programs for functional areas.
  • Analyzes existing programs, formulates requirements for new systems, performs coding and tests/debugs programs.

  • Performs complex installation, configuration, customization, and tuning.
  • Provides input on answers to technical questions and problems while adhering to standards and procedures.
  • Assists in strategic planning and database architecture and design.
  • Makes recommendations on functional and business requirements.
  • Participates in project activities and provides technical assistance for assigned projects.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.
  • 3 to 5+ years of experience for experienced level.
  • 6 to 9+ years of experience for senior level.
  • In-depth knowledge and work experience installing and configuring Oracle database technology.
  • In-depth knowledge and work experience performing database monitoring and tuning.
  • Expert knowledge and work experience with database upgrade and patching, backup and recovery mechanisms, database security, database design, database packages, and structures.
  • Experience/knowledge in *nix and other platforms and operating systems.
