About the position

The Database Administrator (DBA) will play a crucial role in supporting several PostgreSQL and Microsoft SQL Server database management systems for various applications on the DCGS-A program. This position is based onsite at APG, MD, and requires a Top Secret/SCI clearance. The DBA will be responsible for developing and implementing policies and procedures that ensure the integrity, security, and high availability of the database management systems (DBMS). This includes administrating PostgreSQL databases in both Linux and Windows environments, setting up monitoring, and maintaining PostgreSQL instances. In addition to database administration, the DBA will implement performance tuning for both PostgreSQL and SQL Server databases. They will certify the availability and performance of the databases that support our systems, ensuring that they have sufficient resources allocated to support high resilience and speed. The DBA will also perform and assist developers in performance tuning, proactively monitor the database systems to ensure secure services with minimal downtime, and improve maintenance of the databases, which includes rollouts, patching, and upgrades. Experience working with Database DISA STIGS is also required for this role.

Responsibilities

• Support several PostgreSQL and MS SQL Server database management systems for various applications on the DCGS-A program.
• Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure the integrity, security, and high availability of the DBMS.
• Administrate PostgreSQL databases in Linux and Windows environments, setting up monitoring and maintaining PostgreSQL instances.
• Implement Postgres and SQL Server database administration and performance tuning.
• Certify the availability and performance of the databases that support our systems, ensuring sufficient resources for high resilience and speed.
• Perform and assist developers in performance tuning.
• Proactively monitor database systems to ensure secure services with minimum downtime.
• Improve maintenance of the databases, including rollouts, patching, and upgrades.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or other Engineering or Technical discipline.
• Five (5) years of relevant experience within the last 8 years.
• Top Secret/SCI clearance required.
• Experience with PostgreSQL and MS SQL Server database administration.
• Experience in Linux and Windows environments.
