About the position

The Database Administrator/Developer is responsible for designing, developing, maintaining, and administrating Microsoft SQL databases and applications to support the business requirements of ESD. This role requires a proficient knowledge of programming languages and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively. Key duties include SQL Server administration, application programming, system maintenance, performance monitoring, and providing technical assistance across various IT areas.

Responsibilities

  • Administrate database security and access permissions.
  • Manage database user accounts and assist in system integration and data exchange.
  • Manage SQL job scheduling.
  • Generate database technical documentation and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Support and develop data structures within ESD's internal data systems and Microsoft Dynamics Platform.
  • Develop and maintain logical database systems, data views, and reporting systems.
  • Set programming standards and performance measures, document development and design.
  • Develop and support assigned business applications throughout the application development life cycle.
  • Provide MS Office / Dynamics support for Access and Excel.
  • Provide Data Analysis and Ad Hoc reporting as required by application users and ESD Management.
  • Liaise with project managers, end users, and 3rd party vendors in support of application requirements.
  • Troubleshoot application performance bottlenecks to ensure efficient workflow and data processing.
  • Develop 'Test and Debug' strategies to ensure system reliability and data integrity.
  • Research new technologies to improve professional knowledge and maintain an industry-current skill set.
  • Assist with IT Disaster Recovery efforts, testing, and documentation.
  • Provide guidance and support to junior level programmers.
  • Provide technical assistance in any other area of IT as directed by department managers.

Requirements

  • BA in an IT related discipline with a minimum of 2 years' experience in a related field; or a 2-year degree with a minimum of 3 years' experience; or any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities have been achieved.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Visual Studio 2015+, Microsoft SQL Server 2016+, C#, ASP.Net, JavaScript (JQuery Angular), Microsoft Office applications, and Microsoft Operating Systems.
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics, Application API (REST, Oauth), Scribe, Crystal Reports 11.x, and HTML is helpful.
  • Ability to work with a diverse group of people at both a functional and technical level and communicate at a level appropriate to the audience.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
