About the position

Currently, ManTech is seeking a motivated, career and customer-oriented Database Engineer/Administrator to join our team in the DMV area. This position is crucial for overseeing the design, development, support, and maintenance of the organization's database systems. The Database Engineer/Administrator will manage hardware, software, and network components, ensuring that the database systems are optimized for performance and reliability. This role involves managing vendor or open-source database software, conducting capacity planning and usage forecasting, and providing comprehensive technical reviews to enhance the overall database performance. In addition to technical responsibilities, the Database Engineer/Administrator will oversee the support for database administration requirements, make recommendations on technical direction, and extract and load data as needed. Establishing cybersecurity measures is a critical part of this role, along with managing hardware and software updates, monitoring performance, and overseeing the configuration of servers and databases. Maintaining data integrity and handling sensitive data ethically are paramount responsibilities. The Database Engineer/Administrator will also provide technical support to database users and will be responsible for supervising and mentoring subordinate project staff members. Collaboration with other Database Engineer/Administrators is essential to ensure the smooth operation of database systems across the organization.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • High School diploma and 4 years of additional experience, or an Associate's Degree and 2 years of additional experience may be exchanged in lieu of a required Bachelor's degree.
  • 5 years of position-specific relevant experience.
  • DoD 8570.01-m IAT Level II Certification within 6 months of commencing work on the Task Order.
  • Bachelor's degree in STEM or a related discipline.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Software Development or related discipline.
  • Experience working in an Agile development environment.
  • DoD 8570.01-m IAT Level III Certification.
  • Relevant industry standard certifications such as Oracle, Microsoft or AWS.
  • Polygraph preferred.
