About the position

As a Database Administrator at Entrata, Inc., you will be responsible for providing highly scalable and performant databases that drive the features and functions of our product platform. This role requires proactive collaboration with development, operations, and support teams to ensure the technical and operational support of database servers. Your responsibilities will include logical and physical database design, maintenance, troubleshooting, performance tuning, monitoring, and optimization of PostgreSQL data applications and services that are mission-critical to our operations. You will be tasked with performing configuration, performance, security, automation, and observability of our databases. This includes developing automation processes, ensuring high availability, and optimizing the performance of the firm's databases. You will also monitor the uptime of all production and test databases, developing and implementing procedures for automated monitoring, incident response, and high availability. In this role, you will participate in architecting and designing zero-downtime database services, utilizing your strong communication skills to collaborate with key stakeholders across Engineering, Architecture, and Product teams. You will work closely with Database Engineers to ensure query optimization and performance tuning, as well as develop data protection strategies that include regular backups and recovery processes. Leveraging cloud technologies to improve performance, reliability, and quality while reducing costs for the firm's database services will also be a key aspect of your role. This position allows for telecommuting from anywhere in the U.S.

Responsibilities

  • Provide highly scalable and performant databases for the firm's product platform.
  • Work proactively with development, operations, and support teams to provide technical and operational support of database servers.
  • Perform logical and physical database design, maintenance, troubleshooting, performance tuning, monitoring, and optimization.
  • Support and ensure uptime of mission-critical PostgreSQL data applications and services.
  • Perform configuration, performance, security, automation, and observability of databases.
  • Develop automation, high-availability, performance, and end-to-end optimizations of the firm's databases.
  • Monitor uptime of all production and test databases.
  • Develop and implement procedures for automated monitoring, incident response, performance, and high availability of databases.
  • Participate in architecting and designing zero-downtime database services.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders across Engineering, Architecture, and Product teams to provide database application features.
  • Work with Database Engineers to ensure query optimization and performance tuning.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or U.S. equivalent in Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, or related field.
  • 3 years of professional experience as a Database Administrator, Database Analyst, or in a similar role involving database administration.
  • 3 years of experience setting up and managing PostgreSQL cloud-native environments (including AWS).
  • 3 years of experience working with modern cloud-native environments (including AWS) and containerization technologies.
  • 3 years of experience performing PostgreSQL database server architecture, concepts, features, and high-availability strategies.
  • 3 years of experience managing geographically dispersed infrastructure and disaster recovery environments.
  • 3 years of experience utilizing scripting/programming languages (including Bash or AWS CLI).
