About the position

DT Professional Services is seeking a mid-level Database Administrator to join the Electronic Warfare (EW) team on-site at Point Mugu, CA. This position will work on the Electronic Warfare Data Systems (EWDS) Team, supporting the Electronic Warfare systems for many of the U.S. Navy air platforms including EA-18G, MH-60R, and E-2C/D. The Database Administrator will collaborate with various EWDS teams both on and off of NAS Point Mugu to enhance and maintain legacy systems while migrating those capabilities into modernized and networked database architectures and environments. This role requires a proactive approach to work with both Database teams and multiple Software development teams in the development and deployment of mission planning and related support software from internal government teams and third-party vendors. The successful candidate will be responsible for meeting weekly with developmental teams to support Fleet Software and Hardware improvement and sustainment efforts. They will need to gain a comprehensive understanding of the capabilities and limitations of different databases and interrelated software programs of various Naval Air platform systems and subsystems. The Database Administrator will develop and implement efficient strategies for migrating existing MS SQL Databases to PostgreSQL environments, particularly for application within cloud-based environments such as AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud Platform (GCP). Additionally, they will work closely with development and maintenance teams to design requirements within an Agile environment to meet Support Lab needs. This position also involves supporting the design and testing of database partitioning and schema options to enhance data handling efficiencies, including import, processing, storage, and export. Troubleshooting and resolving database integrity, performance, blocking/deadlocking, connectivity, and security issues between asynchronous connection servers, nodes, and potentially austere forward edge computers will be key responsibilities. The Database Administrator will also be tasked with developing and maintaining comprehensive database documentation, including System Security Plans, Data Dictionaries, Backup Procedures, and Job Queue Monitoring, all while operating within existing and developing DEVSECOPS pipelines.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Must possess a DoD issued TS/SCI Security Clearance
  • 8+ years of direct industry experience in database administration or data engineering
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field with 3-5 years relevant experience, or 8+ years industry experience with certifications in lieu of degree
  • Expertise with SQL and direct PostgreSQL

Nice-to-haves

  • SAFe-AGILE experience
  • Previous work with U.S. Navy or Marine Corps Intelligence organizations, specifically the ELINT in operational or tactical support roles
  • Baseline knowledge in PostgreSQL, especially regarding asynchronous updating of large datasets
  • Experience optimizing large and complex datasets for analysis
  • Integration of AI/ML programs with large and complex datasets to develop and apply resulting data models

  • Competitive salary range of $110,000 - $160,000 annually
