About the position

The Database Administrator (DBA) is responsible for managing and optimizing the performance of various database technologies. This hybrid role requires the DBA to provide technical expertise, support internal teams, and ensure best practices are followed for database integrity and efficiency. The DBA will also analyze performance metrics and participate in projects aimed at process improvements.

Responsibilities

• Perform various database maintenance activities including identifying failures and resolving routine problems.
• Code programs to derive logical processes on technical platforms.
• Write SQL jobs or modify stored source code for efficiency and database statistics updates.
• Assist with capacity planning, data loading, and maintenance plans.
• Provide assistance with database back-up as required.
• Monitor database and server performance to ensure standards are met.
• Coordinate upgrades and patches as required.
• Assist with documenting database schemas and models.
• Participate in projects to implement best practices and execute process improvements.
• Communicate progress, roadblocks, or escalations timely.
• Participate in a monthly on-call rotation schedule.

Requirements

• Accredited university, college, or trade school education and/or equivalent experience in applicable technology.
• At least one year of hands-on work experience in relevant technical fields.
• Demonstrated technical competencies with database technologies (e.g., MS SQL, MariaDB, MySQL, DMSII).
• Strong mathematical, reasoning, troubleshooting, and analytical skills.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to work in a collaborative and teamwork-focused environment.
