About the position

The University of Maine System is seeking applications for the position of Database Administrator I. This role is integral to the Information Technology Group, providing essential database administration support for mission-critical Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server databases. The Database Administrator I will be responsible for a variety of tasks including installation, administration, monitoring, tuning, backup, security, and design of databases. Additionally, the role includes application administration support for Oracle PeopleSoft ERP systems. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with system administrators, developers, and application stakeholders to deliver robust and secure database solutions that meet the needs of the university's operations. The work location for this position is primarily at the Orono campus of the University of Maine, with the possibility of remote work for qualified candidates. The annual salary for this position ranges from low to mid $60s, complemented by a 10% employer contribution to the UMS retirement plan. Responsibilities

  • Provide database administration support for Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server databases.

  • Collaborate with system administrators, developers, and application stakeholders to deliver database solutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in an IT-related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • One or more years of experience in Oracle database administration (preferred).
  • Experience working in a higher education information technology department (preferred).
  • Experience with Microsoft SQL Server database administration (preferred).

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in Microsoft SQL Server administration.
