About the position

The Database Administrator II position is responsible for managing and maintaining the Municipality of Anchorage's database environments. This role involves ensuring database uptime and availability, providing recommendations for improvements, and developing long-term maintenance plans. The administrator will also handle the development, alteration, enhancement, and support of databases and reports, while coordinating necessary testing and ensuring compliance with contract requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, control, and coordinate the MOA database environment(s).
  • Ensure database uptime and availability.
  • Provide recommendations for improvement and long-term maintenance plans.
  • Develop, alter, enhance, maintain, monitor, and support databases and reports.
  • Assess and analyze the nature/cause of program/processing failures and implement corrective actions.
  • Prepare and update system and user documentation.
  • Advise IT Management on planning, development, and implementation for systems and applications.
  • Coordinate necessary testing to certify system changes, fixes, patches, and upgrades.
  • Assist IT Management in ensuring conformance with contract requirements and project documentation.

Requirements

  • 5 years of experience in database administration or related field.
  • Valid Driver's License.
