As a Database Administrator II at PREMIER Bankcard, you will be responsible for all activities related to the administration of computerized databases, including their design, control, and maintenance. This role requires a thorough analysis of information requirements and the development of specifications for database construction and maintenance, ensuring the economy, efficiency, and safety of information while utilizing new technical developments. You will collaborate with other associates to advise on administrative policies, technical problems, and methods related to new or existing data files. Additionally, you will project long-range requirements for database administration in conjunction with other managers in the data processing function. Your primary responsibilities will include administering and maintaining the company database and data warehouses, implementing and monitoring database access and configurations, and resolving database performance and capacity issues. You will also perform database recovery and backup, engage in capacity planning, and may involve some development work. It is essential to maintain ongoing data schema and documentation of all internal databases and tables, which may also include maintaining data dictionaries. You will complete internal projects as assigned by Software Development management and provide problem management support, making daily decisions about the best way to resolve issues with minimal impact to users under management supervision. The typical scope of your assignments will relate to enhancements or functionality of multiple PREMIER internal databases or tables. You will be responsible for testing functionality, including necessary documentation for review by your supervisor as defined in the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC). Accurate completion of reports detailing work time spent on projects within the department's standard timeline is also required. You must efficiently manage your time by organizing and prioritizing tasks to maximize productive results while allowing for flexibility to adapt to changing priorities or additional challenges. Effective communication of thoughts and observations is crucial, as you will need to present information to various levels within the organization, both in written and verbal forms. Additionally, you will perform associated tasks with on-call assignments, including answering help desk phone calls and monitoring the completion of daily processes. Your work will significantly affect business operations through the management of multiple internal databases and tables, including database maintenance, setup, backup monitoring, documentation, logging, and establishing database schema structures for internal projects. You will also conduct DBA-level installations and upgrades, including application-level patches and upgrades, while maintaining documentation for installations, upgrades, computer system validation, disaster recovery information, and problem management planning for applications or systems. Investigating and resolving significant matters for PREMIER applications on behalf of Software Development management while maintaining the highest level of database security is essential. You will manage user accounts and access, determining approval levels and maintaining access forms for applications. Ensuring that projects are implemented without disruption to business operations is a key responsibility, as is completing projects assigned by Software Development management, which typically relate to enhancements or the creation of new databases or tables. You will document changes to new databases/tables by completing project form templates and submitting them to Software Development management as required by established internal and external audit requirements defined in the SDLC. Facilitating the flow of work within the work unit as it is handed off to and from the work unit, within established productivity requirements, is also part of your role. Finally, you will analyze and develop timely, conclusive solutions to a variety of more complex issues, while performing associated tasks with on-call assignments, including answering help desk phone calls and monitoring the completion of daily processes.
