About the position
The Database Administrator, II at Zebra Technologies is responsible for planning, administering, and supporting various database systems, including relational and No-SQL databases. This role involves monitoring, troubleshooting, and optimizing database performance to ensure the availability and reliability of applications that support Zebra's business operations. The position requires collaboration with internal teams and may involve participation in 24/7 on-call production support.
Responsibilities
- Support the installation, creation, configuration, implementation, administration, and support of Zebra's Progress database-based applications and SQL Server databases.
- Perform day-to-day Progress and SQL Server L2/L3 support activities, including backup and recovery.
- Ensure the availability of databases and applications that support Zebra's business tools while tuning for optimal performance.
- Identify and implement innovative ideas, including automation of regular tasks to enhance database operations.
- Collaborate with the team regarding company-wide, web-enabled solutions and work closely with the Database Team.
- Participate in 24X7 on-call production support as required.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
- 3+ years of experience in Relational or No-SQL Database Technologies or Database as a Service.
- Experience with cloud SQL, MongoDB, and basic DevOps tools such as Shell, Bash, and Python.
Nice-to-haves
- Master's degree in a relevant field.
- Experience with IBM DB2, Google Cloud SQL, and BigQuery.
- MongoDB Certification is preferred.
- Understanding of Cloud Architectural Patterns.
- Experience in documenting and maintaining up-to-date systems procedures.
