About the position

Abacus Technology is seeking a Database Administrator II to provide management and support for enterprise-level databases at Picatinny Arsenal. This full-time position involves a variety of responsibilities aimed at ensuring the optimal performance and security of database systems. The successful candidate will be tasked with monitoring database performance, utilizing tools such as SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS), SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), and SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) to analyze, manipulate, and build reports using data from multiple sources. Additionally, the role requires performing SQL Server system troubleshooting and repair, conducting backup operations for system and application databases, and implementing DISA STIG settings on database systems. The Database Administrator will also be responsible for providing installation, support, and development of databases, which includes developing tables, columns, triggers, stored procedures, queries, and other related components. The role involves developing and testing legacy data migration routines to support deployment, as well as supporting the creation of sequencing diagrams, process flow development, data profiling, data analysis, and logical and physical data modeling. Ensuring that database design and system capabilities meet user requirements is crucial, as is monitoring database usage, troubleshooting data compatibility and integrity issues, and making modifications for enhanced performance. The Database Administrator will define and document database administration policies and procedures and evaluate the integration of new tools or technologies based on the existing infrastructure capabilities. Recommendations for potential areas of improvement to increase efficiency will also be part of the responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor database performance.
  • Utilize SSMS/SSIS/SSRS to analyze, manipulate and build reports using data across multiple data sources.

Requirements

  • 3+ years experience in the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of database management systems.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • Must be Security+ certified.
  • Must hold or be able to obtain: Oracle Database Administration 2019 Certified Professional or Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate certification.
  • Thorough knowledge of the software/system development life cycle (SDLC).
  • Experience developing tables, columns, triggers, stored procedures, and queries.
  • Experience monitoring database usage, troubleshooting data compatibility and integrity issues, and making modifications for enhanced performance.
  • Able to communicate effectively with all levels of an organization.
  • Organized, attentive to detail, and willing to pursue resolutions to issues as they arise.
  • Able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be a US citizen and hold a current Secret clearance.
