About the position

The Database Administrator is responsible for designing, implementing, and overseeing the physical design and operation of the organization's databases to ensure security and integrity controls. This role involves managing daily operations of various database environments, formulating policies and procedures, and advising organizational leaders on database concepts and capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Oversees daily operations of production, non-production, and redundant database environments.
• Formulates policies, procedures, and standards relating to database management and monitors transaction activity and utilization.
• Reviews database design and integration of systems and makes recommendations regarding enhancements and/or improvements.
• Develops, manages, and tests back-up and recovery plans ensuring that all procedures are functioning properly.
• Maintains security and integrity controls over the databases.
• Contributes to the development of a strategy for the use of relational databases technology.
• Advises organization leaders on database concepts and functional capabilities and recommends system changes to programming staff.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a computer related field from an accredited college or university.
• Six (6) to eight (8) years of experience in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education, certification, training, and/or experience.
• Database Certification (SQL Server and Oracle) preferred.
• Ability to organize work for timely completion.
• Ability to speak, write, read, and understand English.
• Ability to follow complex oral and written instructions.
• Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
• Skill in Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability to travel up to 10% of the time.
• Ability to commute with personal transportation.
