The Database Administrator III is responsible for database availability, performance, replication, and backups within multiple database environments that operate 24/7/365. The DBA will monitor performance for both on-prem and Azure databases, providing process improvements based on KPIs and metrics created using industry best practices. The DBA will support release cycles that occur throughout the SDLC process and assist in cross-training junior DBAs. Essential functions include monitoring and analyzing space usage, system performance, and tuning/recommending query improvements while maintaining data integrity and availability. The DBA will provide Gap Analysis, Metrics, KPIs, Performance Dashboard, Configuration Management, and Documentation of systems. They will manage deployment packaging, testing, and implementation, collaborating with application and data development, data architecture, and other IT teams to ensure releases are delivered with repeatable and auditable processes. The DBA will also manage Change, Incident, Problem, and Service Management processes related to database activities and implementations, document, standardize, and automate deployment processes, and design/build tools and frameworks that support deploying and managing customer applications, including batch and real-time data processing. Additionally, the DBA will create/follow checklists, automation routines, and processes for system validation, maintain a constructive and positive team environment that promotes openness, information sharing, problem-solving, and support for common team goals. They will assist in reducing maintenance costs while meeting or exceeding business objectives, ensuring all database servers are backed up to meet Recovery Point Objectives, including Recovery Time Objectives and Disaster Recovery testing, and perform recovery exercises as needed. Compliance with Exeter's policies & procedures, safety, state and federal laws, regulations, and standards is also a critical aspect of this role.
