About the position

A Database Administrator (DBA) at Covenant Eyes plays a crucial role in the design, development, implementation, and ongoing support of enterprise databases. This position is not just about managing databases; it is about contributing to a larger mission of restoring relationships and protecting families. The DBA will work closely with Systems Architects to provide architectural vision for new database setups and will be involved in analyzing and solving problems within the existing technology landscape. The role requires hands-on management of current technology solutions and the technical definition and delivery of new solutions and tools, both for internal use and for customers. The DBA will be responsible for configuring, maintaining, monitoring, optimizing, and supporting high availability and geographically dispersed databases. This includes installing and testing database software upgrades, developing and documenting standards for database operations and security, and analyzing business requirements to implement effective database and replication solutions. The DBA will also participate in a monthly on-call rotation, perform business analytics and data mining, troubleshoot database issues, and collaborate with cross-functional teams including Developers, Systems Engineers, User Experience Practitioners, and Quality Assurance Practitioners. This position is integral to ensuring that the databases are not only functional but also optimized for performance and security, contributing to the overall success of the company’s mission.

Responsibilities

  • Configuring, maintaining, monitoring, optimizing, and supporting high availability and geographically dispersed databases.
  • Installing and testing database software upgrades.
  • Developing, documenting, and communicating standards for use, operations, and security of databases and data.
  • Analyzing business requirements to identify and implement database and replication solutions.
  • Participating in a monthly on-call rotation.
  • Performing Business Analytics and Data Mining.
  • Troubleshooting and correcting database issues.
  • Participating in systems implementation projects.
  • Working alongside and being highly responsive and communicative with cross-functional teams, including Developers, Systems Engineers, User Experience Practitioners, and Quality Assurance Practitioners.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience with MariaDB, Percona, or MySQL.
  • Experience with MySQL stored procedures & functions, triggers, views.
  • Demonstrated experience designing and developing complex ETL pipelines using tools such as Informatica, SSIS, Talend, Apache NiFi, etc.
  • Query design and performance tuning.
  • Data modeling and design.
  • Experience with Oracle Linux (RHEL 7 or newer and variants).
  • Shell scripting.
