About the position

The Database Administrator IV at Phoenix Defense plays a crucial role in supporting the engineering management team by performing database design, updates, integration, and testing to meet project requirements. This position is integral to the software development team, working in a hybrid environment to ensure the successful implementation and monitoring of database architectures while fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation.

Responsibilities

  • Perform database design, update, integration, and testing to satisfy project requirements.
  • Work collaboratively in a small team within an Agile development environment to achieve team milestones.
  • Shape the design, processes, and tools used for projects, valuing entrepreneurship and innovative thinking.
  • Participate in brainstorming and consensus-building activities to improve products and processes.
  • Implement and monitor database architectures and provide system documentation.
  • Support backups and restores of the database.
  • Provide database monitoring and performance tuning.
  • Develop and maintain stored procedures, triggers, table DDL, constraints, and views.
  • Manage Problem Ticket activity from planning to testing.
  • Handle all forms of data manipulation, migrating data into and out of the database.
  • Utilize the Atlassian tool set in an Agile Development Environment.
  • Participate in government and industry teams to resolve data issues.
  • Establish and support data management tools, plans, and processes.
  • Collaborate closely with other engineering teams to support software development and deployment.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Database Administrator or similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of database design and management.
  • Experience with performance tuning and monitoring of databases.
  • Proficiency in developing stored procedures, triggers, and views.
  • Familiarity with Agile development methodologies and tools, particularly Atlassian.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
