About the position

Indotronix is seeking a highly skilled Database Administrator Level 4 specializing in HPE NonStop and Virtual NonStop systems. This position is based in either San Diego or Long Beach, California, and is a hybrid role that starts with two days a week onsite, with the potential to increase to three or more days as needed. The role is a contract position expected to last for a duration of six months, with the possibility of transitioning to a direct hire opportunity in the future. The working hours are from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday, providing a structured work schedule for the successful candidate. The Database Administrator will be responsible for managing and maintaining HPE NonStop databases, ensuring their performance, security, and availability. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in database design and management, with a particular emphasis on SQL/MX. This role requires a deep understanding of relational databases, isolation and transaction concepts, and temporal databases. The successful candidate will be expected to write complex queries, manage disk space effectively, and recommend appropriate Database Management Systems (DBMS) to leadership. Collaboration within a team environment is essential, and the candidate must be willing to work closely with other IT professionals to achieve organizational goals.

Responsibilities

• Manage and maintain HPE NonStop and Virtual NonStop databases.
• Design and implement database structures to optimize performance.
• Write complex SQL/MX queries for data retrieval and manipulation.
• Monitor database performance and troubleshoot issues as they arise.
• Perform disk management and ensure efficient use of storage resources.
• Recommend Database Management Systems (DBMS) to leadership based on organizational needs.
• Collaborate with team members to ensure database integrity and security.
• Create and maintain documentation related to database configurations and procedures.

Requirements

• Minimum of 8 years of experience with HPE NonStop or Virtual NonStop systems.
• Extensive experience with SQL/MX databases.
• Strong understanding of relational database concepts.
• Detailed knowledge of isolation and transaction concepts.
• In-depth understanding of temporal databases is highly required.
• Ability to write complex SQL queries.
• Experience in maintaining and creating SQL/MX databases on demand.
• Proficient in disk management practices.
• Experience in recommending DBMS to leadership.

Nice-to-haves

• Bachelor's degree in any IT technical discipline is highly desired but not required.
