Database Administrator- Mid Level

About the position

We are seeking a skilled Database Administrator (DBA) to design, implement, and maintain moderately complex databases supporting mission-critical systems. The ideal candidate will be responsible for database administration, system integration, security measures, and performance optimization.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain moderately complex databases to support operational and analytical needs.
• Maintain database dictionaries and ensure seamless integration of systems through effective database design.
• Administer and test computer databases, applying expertise in database management systems.
• Coordinate and implement database changes, updates, and patches as required.
• Develop and enforce security measures to safeguard databases and sensitive information.
• Monitor database performance, availability, and integrity, optimizing for efficiency and scalability.
• Collaborate with system administrators, developers, and cybersecurity teams to ensure secure and efficient data storage and retrieval.
• Troubleshoot and resolve database issues to minimize downtime and disruptions.

Requirements

• Active Top Secret Clearance (required).
• 6+ years of experience in database administration, design, and management.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
• Proficiency in database management systems (DBMS) such as Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, or PostgreSQL.
• Experience with database security, backup/recovery, and disaster recovery planning.
• Strong understanding of database design, normalization, and performance tuning.
• Ability to coordinate and implement security measures to protect databases.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in a classified or DoD environment.
• Knowledge of cloud-based database solutions (AWS RDS, Azure SQL, etc.).
• Familiarity with NoSQL databases (MongoDB, Cassandra, etc.).
• Certifications such as Oracle DBA, Microsoft SQL Server, or AWS Database Specialty.
