About the position

We are offering a contract to hire employment opportunity for a Database Administrator in the life insurance industry. This role is located in Rock Island, Illinois, and involves managing on-prem servers and maintaining Azure cloud databases. The Database Administrator will be responsible for ensuring optimal performance and security of on-prem servers, performing regular checks, and implementing updates as needed on the SQL server. The role requires utilizing PowerShell scripting for system maintenance and troubleshooting, overseeing Azure cloud databases, and ensuring their smooth operation while resolving any issues that arise. Additionally, the administrator will carry out backup and recovery protocols on the SQL server to prevent data loss and conduct configuration management to maintain system stability and efficiency. The successful candidate will administer the database, ensuring that data is correctly stored and easily accessible. Proficiency in Microsoft SQL, MS SQL Server 2005, and MS SQL Server 2008 is essential for optimal database management. The role also requires leveraging knowledge of Microsoft Azure and Azure SQL Database to maintain and enhance cloud-based systems, as well as implementing MySQL and backup technologies to support data storage and protection. This position is critical in ensuring the integrity and availability of data within the organization, making it a vital role in the IT department.

Responsibilities

• Manage and maintain on-prem servers to ensure optimal performance and security.
• Perform regular checks and implement updates as needed on the SQL server.

• Utilize skills in Microsoft SQL, MS SQL Server 2005, and MS SQL Server 2008 for optimal database management.

• Implement MySQL and backup technologies to support data storage and protection.

Requirements

• Must have a minimum of 3 years of experience as a Database Administrator or in a related role.
• Proficient in Microsoft Azure and Azure SQL Database.
• Knowledge and experience in Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, and MS SQL Server 2005, 2008.
• Experience in Database Administration, Configuration Management, and Backup Technologies.
• Must have hands-on experience in MS SQL Server.
• Familiarity with Microsoft SQL is essential.
• Demonstrated ability to manage and maintain database systems.
• Familiarity with industry best practices in database management and security.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to think critically.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work well in a team and collaborate effectively with other IT professionals.
• Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field is preferred.
