About the position

The Database Administrator Senior role at Worldpay involves overseeing and managing high-volume database systems, ensuring their reliability and performance. This position is crucial for maintaining the integrity of mission-critical applications and supporting the company's eCommerce database services. The role requires a proactive approach to database management, including installation, configuration, tuning, and disaster recovery, while also providing consultation to engineering teams.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, tune, and patch database-related software including Db2 LUW and PostgreSQL.
• Provide daily support for production and non-production environments, including on-call support for production issues.
• Maintain a high availability and reliable production environment.
• Handle disaster recovery for planned and unplanned outages.
• Monitor, capture, and tune performance of SQL queries.
• Plan capacity and scale systems to meet business growth.
• Manage database storage expansion and contraction.
• Script and automate daily database tasks.
• Consult with engineers on table creation and SQL writing.

Requirements

• At least 8 years of DBA experience with 5 years of hands-on experience in IBM Db2 LUW.
• Strong experience in Linux operating systems.
• Solid shell scripting skills for writing database maintenance scripts.
• Experience in multi-data center environments, disaster recovery, and high availability.
• Ability to identify and manage tuning or maintenance items.
• Strong troubleshooting skills to pinpoint root causes of issues.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet project deadlines.
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or equivalent experience.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with PostgreSQL and EFM.
• Familiarity with Pgbouncer.
