About the position

As a Senior Database Administrator at Booz Allen Hamilton, you will leverage your technical expertise and people skills to support the Defense Manpower Data Center (DMDC). Your role involves creating, modifying, and maintaining large datasets, ensuring data delivery, quality, and security. You will work closely with integrated product teams to optimize database performance and provide innovative solutions to complex problems, ultimately supporting military personnel and their families. Additionally, you will mentor a team, turning data into meaningful information and fostering a collaborative environment focused on growth and excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Create, modify, and maintain large datasets for the Defense Manpower Data Center (DMDC).
  • Ensure data delivery, quality, and security in collaboration with integrated product teams.
  • Implement database tuning and performance optimization strategies.
  • Mentor and guide a team to enhance data integrity and availability.
  • Facilitate information discovery sessions with stakeholders to extract terminology and context.
  • Develop standardized business vocabularies across large organizations.

Requirements

  • Experience with enterprise data management policies, processes, and procedures.
  • Experience with database implementations, database language theory, database design, SQL, and database programming.
  • Experience with dimensional data modeling and schema design for data warehouses.
  • Knowledge of developing standardized business vocabularies across large organizations.
  • Ability to assist in mapping business and technical architecture to requirements.
  • Secret clearance required.
  • Bachelor's degree.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working in a deadline-driven environment, handling and prioritizing multiple tasks.
  • Experience in System Architecture and Design.
  • Experience with Cloud and DevOps principles.
  • Knowledge of Jira, ETL, SQL, MS Excel, PowerPoint, Project, and Visio.
  • Knowledge of government Defense Manpower Data Center environments and standards.
  • PMP certification or SCRUM certification.
