About the position

Galapagos Federal Systems LLC is seeking a highly skilled and enthusiastic individual to fill the role of Senior Database Administrator. This position is based in Riverside, CA, and is integral to the NSWC Corona Division in Norco, CA. The primary responsibility of the Senior Database Administrator is to maintain and support the databases within a government facility, ensuring that all data is organized, secure, and accessible to authorized users. The role involves the design, creation, and maintenance of computerized databases, with a strong emphasis on quality control and auditing to guarantee the accurate and proper use of data. As a Database SQL Administrator, you will manage company databases and support the information they store. This includes integrating advanced security measures to prevent data breaches and performing regular tests on databases to ensure their functionality. You will be tasked with troubleshooting user issues, merging legacy databases, and implementing updates to enhance efficiency. The position requires a proactive approach to database management, focusing on data organization and security, while also ensuring that the databases are optimized for performance and reliability. In addition to technical responsibilities, the Senior Database Administrator will also mentor junior team members, providing them with the necessary technical guidance and support. You will be expected to document database architectures, processes, and procedures comprehensively, and stay updated with the latest database technologies and trends. Your leadership capabilities will be essential in managing database-related projects from conception to completion, ensuring that all tasks are executed effectively and efficiently.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and support databases in the government facility.

Requirements

  • 8 years' relevant work experience.
  • Proficient in database management systems such as Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, MongoDB, etc.
  • Advanced knowledge of database design, implementation, optimization, and maintenance.
  • Expert in SQL querying, stored procedures, triggers, and other database scripting languages.
  • Experience in performance tuning, capacity planning, and troubleshooting database issues.
  • Familiarity with database security principles and best practices.
  • Ability to design and implement backup and disaster recovery solutions.
  • Competence in database monitoring and automation tools.
  • Strong understanding of data integrity, normalization, and data modeling concepts.
  • Experience with cloud-based database solutions (e.g., AWS RDS, Azure SQL Database).
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills, particularly in coordinating with cross-functional teams.
  • Commitment to staying updated with the latest database technologies and trends.
  • Leadership capabilities to mentor junior team members and provide technical guidance.
  • Project management skills to effectively manage database-related projects from conception to completion.

  • IAT Level II2 certification/DoD 8570 certifications.
