The Database Administrator (DBA) plays a critical role in ensuring the availability and performance of the core Oracle and SQL databases within a 24x7x365 operational environment. This position is essential for maintaining the integrity and efficiency of database systems that support day-to-day operations. The DBA will provide technical guidance on query optimization and best practices to engineering teams and other departments, ensuring that all database-related activities align with organizational goals and standards. In this role, the DBA will focus on improving operational efficiencies related to database schema, settings, SQL queries, backup and recovery processes, change data capture, and disaster recovery procedures. The DBA will also be responsible for monitoring core production system services, ensuring proper disk and CPU utilization, and researching new products and upgrades to enhance database performance and security. Documentation is a key aspect of this position, as the DBA will be tasked with documenting and improving existing departmental procedures, policies, and workflows. Additionally, the DBA will closely monitor and manage security-related aspects of the Oracle and SQL databases, ensuring compliance with security protocols and audit requirements. The role also includes maintaining development, test, and UAT database systems, providing data maintenance services, and performing necessary data refreshes. Performance tuning and optimization will be required as needed to ensure the databases operate at peak efficiency.
