About the position

The Database Administrator position at MUFG Bank involves managing SQL Server and Oracle databases in a hybrid cloud environment. The role requires expertise in AWS services, particularly AWS RDS, and a strong background in database administration, performance tuning, and automation using various scripting languages. The selected candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, implement, and optimize database solutions that meet business needs while ensuring security and compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Design, deploy, and manage SQL Server and Oracle databases on premises and in AWS RDS.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to architect and implement hybrid cloud database solutions.
  • Develop and maintain infrastructure as code using Python, Bash, Ansible, PowerShell, and Terraform.
  • Migrate on-premises databases to AWS using DMS and custom CDC scripts.
  • Monitor and maintain the health, performance, and security of a hybrid cloud database environment.
  • Implement cost optimization strategies for database resources.
  • Perform database migrations, upgrades, and patching activities with minimal downtime.
  • Implement and manage database backups, replication, and disaster recovery strategies.
  • Utilize scripting to automate database administration tasks and enhance operational efficiency.
  • Implement security best practices for Data Platforms in a hybrid cloud environment.
  • Document database configurations and provide troubleshooting assistance.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience as a SQL Server/Oracle Database Administrator.
  • Hands-on experience with SQL Server/Oracle and AWS Cloud environments.
  • Strong proficiency in AWS services, particularly AWS RDS.
  • Experience with infrastructure as code tools such as Terraform.
  • Proficiency in Python, Bash, Ansible, and PowerShell scripting.
  • Knowledge of DevOps practices and CI/CD tools.
  • Solid understanding of SQL Server/Oracle performance tuning and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Experience with database security principles and best practices.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex database issues.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Relevant certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect or AWS Certified Database - Specialty.
