About the position

The Database Administrator serves as a Microsoft SQL Server Database Administrator within the Information Technology Department at SIG SAUER, Inc. This role is responsible for configuring, monitoring, troubleshooting, performance tuning, patching, and upgrading SQL Server and related software to ensure effective business operations. The position requires independent planning and execution of tasks while keeping the Director informed of progress and complex issues. The incumbent is expected to improve database structure and ensure quality, timeliness, and adherence to performance management goals.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor multiple SQL Server instances to ensure system health and performance.
  • Manage or assist in backup, restoration, archiving of data and other scheduled maintenance tasks.
  • Assist developers in query tuning, schema development, and deployment.
  • Troubleshoot database-related issues for both commercial and in-house software in real-time.
  • Collaborate with Quality and Business Intelligence teams to ensure efficient data retrieval and analysis.
  • Review, develop, recommend, enforce, and adhere to database policies and standards for SIG SAUER Inc.
  • Communicate and interact effectively with internal and external business contacts.
  • Utilize modern office suite software and enterprise systems/software for various applications related to database administration.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in information technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience totaling four years.
  • 5+ years of experience in Microsoft SQL Server Database administration.
  • Experience with SQL Server Management Studio, SQL Configuration Manager, SQL Profiler, and other SQL tools.
  • Comprehensive expert-level knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server installation and configuration.
  • Expert-level knowledge of SQL clustering, high availability, and disaster recovery options.
  • Expert-level knowledge of stored procedures, views, schemas, permissions, and other database objects.
  • Expert-level knowledge in query development, execution plans, and query optimization.
  • Experience with Windows Server and Active Directory.
  • Knowledge and ability to configure and manage SQL Agent, database mail, linked servers, and other features.

  • Software development experience.
  • Experience with Ansible automation platform.
