This position plays a crucial role in defining, creating, maintaining, backing up, and securing the organization's databases across multiple systems. You will be responsible for designing, developing, building, analyzing, evaluating, and installing database management systems, which includes database modeling and design, relational database architecture, and configuration management. Your expertise will be utilized in using data mapping, mining, and transformational analysis tools to design and develop databases that meet the organization's needs. You will determine data storage requirements and evaluate technology components for database management systems, ensuring optimal performance and scalability. Writing and tuning SQL queries will be a key part of your role, as well as implementing comprehensive backup and database replication solutions while adhering to security best practices and compliance with the latest STIGS. In addition to database management, you will provide support to IT systems, including day-to-day operations, monitoring, and problem resolution for client issues. You will manage IT system infrastructure, perform server and storage capacity management, and oversee database system performance. Your responsibilities will also include installing and configuring database environments, performing backups/restores, and transitioning legacy applications to cloud environments. This position requires a proactive approach to managing and optimizing database applications within various environments, including cloud, VM, and bare metal.

Responsibilities

  • Define, create, maintain, backup, and secure the organization's databases for multiple systems.
  • Design, develop, build, analyze, evaluate, and install database management systems, including database modeling and design, relational database architecture, and configuration management.
  • Use data mapping, mining, and transformational analysis tools to design and develop databases.
  • Determine data storage and optimum storage requirements.
  • Evaluate, size, and select technology components for database management systems and application databases, such as software, hardware, and networking capabilities.
  • Write and tune SQL queries for performance and scalability.
  • Implement comprehensive backup and database replication solutions.
  • Ensure security best practices are followed and compliance with the latest STIGS.
  • Set up and manage user and system accounts.
  • Debug and troubleshoot programs that are malfunctioning or returning/storing incorrect data.
  • Provide support to IT systems, including day-to-day operations, monitoring, and problem resolution for client problems.
  • Support implementation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of IT systems.
  • Manage IT system infrastructure and any processes related to these systems.
  • Perform server and storage capacity management and planning for the most complex and critical systems.
  • Manage, monitor, and administer database system performance and schedule activities.
  • Perform optimization and tuning of data loads and extractions.
  • Install and configure database environments and associated storage systems.
  • Perform backups/restores and archiving data.
  • Design, develop, and maintain database applications within the cloud, VM, and bare metal environments, including transitioning legacy applications to the cloud environment.

Requirements

  • Possess a TSSCI with Polygraph.
  • Experience interpreting data models and developing database structures; using standard diagramming techniques to design and develop computer data models; and implementing and troubleshooting programming changes and modifications.
  • DBA support of Oracle databases.
  • Knowledge of database security requirements, developing, documenting, and implementing backup and recovery procedures.
  • Experience applying security patches for all components of Oracle Management Server and STIGs.
  • Configure and set up SSL and Transparent Data Encryption.
  • Experience configuring, managing, and maintaining the operation of complex relational databases.
  • Familiarity with UNIX and Windows operating systems.
  • Experience with Data Pump, RMAN, SQL Developer, and Oracle Enterprise Manager.
