About the position

Jacobs is currently seeking a Database Administrator with an active TS/SCI w/ Poly to support our government customer in Hanover, MD. The role involves maintaining the integrity, security, and availability of databases, ensuring that all database systems are secure and functioning optimally. The Database Administrator will administer, maintain, and implement policies and procedures that ensure the security and integrity of the databases. This includes organizing and formatting data for efficient query and storage processes, establishing and maintaining database user accounts, and performing disaster recovery, performance analysis, and tuning. In addition to these responsibilities, the Database Administrator will develop policies and procedures for ensuring the security and integrity of the databases, evaluate requirements, and recommend available Database Management System (DBMS) products. The role also encompasses performing database and software life-cycle activities to ensure the highest level of system performance, availability, and compliance with business requirements. The successful candidate will provide server administration with a variety of database products, including Oracle, SQL Server, and SYBASE, and support data modeling activities through prototype database implementations. The position requires directing the monitoring, administration, and implementation of performance on database systems, optimizing database performance, developing or changing database indices, redesigning database structures, and reloading data into databases. Coordination of database architecture changes with database engineers and directing the installation of database management systems, databases, tables, and views are also key aspects of this role. The Database Administrator will be responsible for directing the administration and use of current and emerging database tools, strategies, and technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains the integrity, security, and availability of database(s)
  • Administers, maintains, and implements policies and procedures for ensuring the security and integrity of the database(s)
  • Organizes and formats data for efficient query and storage processes
  • Establishes and maintains database user accounts
  • Performs disaster recovery, performance analysis and tuning, index maintenance, and monitoring of data
  • Develops policies and procedures for ensuring the security and integrity of the database(s)
  • Evaluates requirements and recommends available DBMS products
  • Performs database and software life-cycle activities to ensure highest level of system performance, availability and compliance with business requirements
  • Provides server administration with a variety of database products that include Oracle, SQL Server, and SYBASE
  • Supports data modeling activities by way of prototype database implementations
  • Directs the monitoring, administrating, and implementing performance on database systems as well as database performance optimization, developing/changing database indices, redesigning database structure and reloading data into a database

Requirements

  • 12 years' experience in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity within the Federal Government is required.
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline from an accredited college or university is required. 4 years of additional database administration experience may be substituted for a Bachelor's degree.
  • Active TS/SCI w/Poly security clearance
