About the position

As a Database Administrator (DBA) at GDIT, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and security of our nation by applying the latest technology and providing operational support to deliver actionable intelligence for the Intelligence Community. In this position, you will be responsible for executing several critically important database tasks in support of an OLAP repository. You will leverage your documented experience in managing and understanding database best practices and data modeling techniques. Your expertise in data design, enterprise data, reporting, visualization, and overall data architecture concepts will be essential. It is highly desired that you have a background in creating and managing complex ETL packages to extract data from various sources and load it into a first-class data warehouse. To succeed in this role, you will need a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or an equivalent combination of education, technical certifications, training, or work experience. With over 8 years of experience, you will have extensive knowledge of database management systems, including Oracle, PostgreSQL, and MySQL. Familiarity with serverless frameworks and the ability to create data mapping documents, data dictionaries, and Interface Control Documents (ICDs) will be crucial. You will also need to demonstrate documented experience in improving application, schema, and data design to meet demanding enterprise data solutions, as well as a solid background in data warehouse design and dimensional modeling.

Responsibilities

  • Execute critically important database tasks in support of an OLAP repository.
  • Manage and understand database best practices and data modeling techniques.
  • Design and implement data architecture concepts including data design and reporting.
  • Create and manage complex ETL packages to extract data from various sources and load it into a data warehouse.
  • Develop data mapping documents, data dictionaries, and Interface Control Documents (ICDs).
  • Improve application, schema, and data design to meet enterprise data solutions.
  • Support and troubleshoot RDBMS platforms in a Windows environment.
  • Create and maintain data catalogs or data marts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • 8+ years of related experience in database management.
  • Extensive experience with database management systems such as Oracle, PostgreSQL, and MySQL.
  • Familiarity with serverless frameworks (Lambda, Step Functions).
  • Documented experience with PL/SQL and SQL programming.
  • Excellent skills in database schema design and data architecture.
  • Experience with data warehouse design and dimensional modeling.
  • Knowledge of visualization tools like Tableau and PowerBI.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with DevOps platforms such as Amazon Web Services (S3, RDS, EC2, ECS, Lambda, SQS, SNS, CloudFormation).
  • Python development experience.
  • Experience with IBM Cognos Framework Manager, Reports Studio, and Query Studio.
