About the position

As a Database Administrator with GDIT, you will play a crucial role in transforming technology into opportunity, particularly in supporting the US Army Intelligence and Security Command (INSCOM). This position requires a Top Secret/SCI clearance and involves participating in the design, creation, and maintenance of computerized databases. You will be responsible for ensuring the quality control and auditing of databases to guarantee accurate and appropriate data usage. Collaborating with management, you will develop database strategies that align with organizational requirements and consult with users to facilitate access to various databases. Additionally, you will work directly with users to resolve data conflicts and inappropriate data usage, while also directing the maintenance and use of the corporate data dictionary. Your responsibilities will include performing administration tasks for MS SQL Server and other Database Management Systems (DBMS), maintaining and developing policies and procedures to ensure the security, availability, and integrity of the DBMS. You will create and update System Security Plans (SSPs), Configuration Management Plans (CKLs), and other documentation necessary for the accreditation of the DBMS on classified networks. Performance analysis, tuning, and index maintenance will be part of your duties, as well as adjusting advanced settings of Microsoft SQL Server and other DBMS to optimize functionality. You will also build new Microsoft SQL Server Instances within on-premise architecture, collaborating with other teams to implement industry best practices. In this role, you will automate routine administration tasks, implement and manage High Availability and Disaster Recovery features for MS SQL Server, and perform database and software life-cycle activities to ensure the highest level of system performance, availability, and compliance with organizational requirements. You will verify and develop database backup, storage, and replication schemes across the enterprise to meet the organization's recovery time objectives and point-in-time objectives. Responsibilities

  • Participates in the design, creation, and maintenance of computerized databases.
  • Responsible for the quality control and auditing of databases to ensure accurate and appropriate use of data.
  • Works with management to develop database strategies to support organization requirements.
  • Consults with and advises users on access to various databases.

  • Completes performance analysis, tuning, and index maintenance.
  • Adjusts advanced settings of Microsoft SQL Server and other DBMS to optimize functionality.
  • Builds new Microsoft SQL Server Instances within on-premise architecture collaborating with other teams (Storage, Domain, Systems) to implement industry best practices.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of related experience in database administration.
  • BS Degree with 12 years of experience or MS Degree with 10 years of experience.
  • Required Certification(s): DoD 8570.01-M IAT Level II/8140 Computing Environment (CE) Certification as determined by the Program Manager is required prior to support on contract.
  • IAT II 8570/8140 Baseline Certification Security+ or equivalent.
  • Required Computing Environment certification: MCSE Data Management and Analytics [MS SQL Server] Exam 70-762 or Exam 70-464, or Exam 70-465, or Oracle Certified Professional (OCP).
  • US Citizenship Required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with MSSQL Server 2012, 2017 and newer.
  • Experience identifying and resolving database problems.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Service Manager.
  • Self-motivated, highly organized individual with ability to proactively identify problems, meet deadlines, work with various application managers, prioritize tasks and work independently.
  • Familiarity with SolarWinds DPA.
  • Effective communication skills.
