About the position

Heluna Health invites applications for one full-time position of Database Administrator. Bridge HIV is a grant-funded research unit affiliated with the San Francisco Department of Public Health and the University of California San Francisco. Bridge HIV has been searching for new and innovative ways to fight HIV/AIDS since the onset of the epidemic in the early 1980s. The Bridge HIV Investigators are global leaders in HIV vaccine and prevention science, epidemiology of HIV infection, HIV medication adherence, combination HIV prevention strategies, and HIV research training methods. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Bridge HIV has also been conducting COVID-19 vaccine and epidemiology studies. Under the direct supervision of the Medical Director, the Database Administrator will oversee various Bridge HIV databases; develop data queries for statistical analyses of study data; create complex computerized questionnaires in Qualtrics and Redcap, working closely with the Bridge HIV Principal Investigator to meet data needs of all research projects. This is a temporary, grant-funded, full-time, benefitted position. Employment is provided by Heluna Health. In-person work is required. Pay rate: $59.35 per hour. Responsibilities

  • Designs and develops new databases for Bridge HIV research studies.
  • Modifies existing ACCESS databases (creates reports, forms, queries, and VBA code; adds/changes functionality).
  • Maintains SQL Server Database.
  • Deploys a fully integrated calendar and scheduling functionality within the Afie database.
  • Provides leadership on the Alfie Working Group to obtain input on programming needs, determine priorities, and identify functional requirements for new projects.
  • Develops basic data queries for statistical analyses of study data.
  • Meets with individual users to determine user specifications for specific functions or reports.
  • Performs systems analysis and software development to create complex computerized questionnaires in REDCap data capture system.
  • Develops reports and queries to ensure database consistency and adherence to study procedures.
  • Maintains database security in compliance with local, state, and federal security guidelines.
  • Trains staff on use of databases and data applications.
  • Troubleshoots end user problems with databases.
  • Creates documentation for database users to ensure best practices.
  • Demonstrates strong commitment to anti-racism and health equity.
  • Participates in the HUB meeting and other study-related meetings.
  • Facilitates the Alfie Working Group.

Requirements

  • Proficient in Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Experience with Qualtrics and VBA.
  • Knowledge of epidemiology principles and practices.
  • Ability to develop data queries for statistical analyses.
  • Experience in database design and management.
