About the position

The Database Administrator at ZealotechPeople is responsible for planning, implementing, and supporting the migration of DB2 databases to newer versions as part of an operating system migration. This role involves analyzing the current database environment, developing upgrade strategies, and ensuring seamless integration of applications and systems with the upgraded database. The position requires ongoing monitoring and tuning of database performance, as well as collaboration with application developers and system administrators.

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement the migration of DB2 databases to newer versions.
• Analyze the current database environment and assess compatibility with target versions.
• Develop and execute upgrade strategies, including patching and testing.
• Perform pre-upgrade and post-upgrade testing to ensure application integration.
• Coordinate and execute database migration in production, test, and development environments.
• Optimize database settings post-upgrade for performance and stability.
• Monitor and tune database performance during the upgrade process.
• Apply patches and updates while adhering to change management processes.
• Ensure backup and recovery plans are functional and test restore procedures.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues during and after the upgrade process.
• Collaborate with application developers and system administrators for seamless performance.

Requirements

• Experience with DB2 databases and migration processes.
• Proficiency in SQL Server Management Studio.
• Strong analytical skills to assess database environments.
• Ability to develop and execute upgrade strategies.
• Experience with database monitoring and tuning.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with D2B UDB.
• Familiarity with Linux or RHEL operating systems.
