About the position

GovCIO is seeking a Database Administrator to support a newly awarded customer contract. This fully remote position involves managing and optimizing database systems to ensure their smooth operation, security, and integrity. The role requires collaboration with other IT professionals to develop and maintain database solutions that enhance government IT services.

Responsibilities

  • Implements and maintains smooth operation and physical design of databases.
  • Conducts performance tuning of indexes and databases.
  • Reviews database design and integration of systems, provides backup recovery, and makes recommendations regarding enhancements.
  • Maintains security and integrity controls of databases.
  • Formulates policies, procedures, and standards relating to database management.
  • Monitors transaction activity and utilization of databases.
  • Develops stored procedures and/or triggers as needed.
  • Administers a variety of database systems, including Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Develops and enforces database administration and user standards and procedures.
  • Audits, modifies, and amends data in systems using SQL commands.
  • Oversees the scheduling of database projects, backups, and replication between SQL Servers.
  • Assists Database Designers/Information System Analysts in the development of SQL and Web-based databases.
  • Reviews technical designs, reports, and documentation produced by staff.
  • Creates and maintains high-level reporting systems using products such as Crystal Reports.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with 5 - 8 years of experience or commensurate experience.
  • 5 years of experience with database administration.
  • Active HUD Public Trust clearance required.
