About the position

The position involves essential duties and responsibilities related to database administration, including the creation and maintenance of production, reports, and development databases. The role requires proactive capacity planning to ensure database availability and performance tuning of database instances. The DBA will also be responsible for installing patches, planning and implementing backup and recovery strategies, and managing database encryption. Additionally, the DBA will enforce security measures, evaluate database releases, and provide technical assistance to application development teams.

Responsibilities

• Creates and maintains production, reports and development databases
• Performs proactive capacity planning to ensure database availability is not affected
• Performs proactive monitoring and performance tuning of the database instances
• Installs various patches to keep databases up to date and install new versions of the Oracle/SQL Server database
• Plans and implements backup and recovery of the databases
• Manages and implements encryption (SSL & TDE)
• Migrates Non-CDB database to CDB database
• Implements and enforces security for all of the Databases (Oracle/SQL Server)
• Puts standards in place to ensure that all application design and code is produced with proper integrity, security and performance
• Evaluates releases of Oracle/SQL Server and its tools, and third party products
• Plans application releases to ensure minimal impact
• Provides technical assistance from database perspective to application development teams
• Administers all database objects, including tables, clusters, indexes, views, sequences, packages and procedures
• Assists with impact analysis of any changes made to the database objects
• Troubleshoots problems regarding the databases, applications and development tools
• Configures and maintains Cross Database Replication tools (Eg. Oracle Golden Gate Services)
• Sets up new users and privileges as required
• Has ultimate responsibility for the physical database design
