About the position

OnePoint Patient Care is seeking a skilled Database Administrator to join our team in Tempe, AZ. This role is pivotal in ensuring the integrity, performance, and security of our database systems that support our community-based hospice pharmacy and pharmacy benefits management services. The Database Administrator will be responsible for performing database installations, upgrades, migrations, and patching. This includes setting up database security roles, access rights, and controls, as well as implementing Active Directory authentication. The successful candidate will also be tasked with ensuring high availability and disaster recovery for our database systems, which are critical to our operations. In this position, you will automate database operations and maintenance tasks using Powershell and T-SQL scripting. You will be involved in database object design and partitioning, as well as monitoring database performance. This includes T-SQL query optimization, index design, and tuning to ensure optimal performance of our database systems. Additionally, you will design Azure SQL solutions and migrate on-premise data to Azure, which is a key component of our strategy to leverage cloud technologies for improved efficiency and scalability. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor of Science degree in computer science, computer engineering, information systems, or a related technical field, along with significant experience in SQL server installations, clustering, high-availability setups, and database migrations. You will also need to demonstrate expertise in SQL server system internals, resource management, and distributed computing. Experience with Powershell scripting, database monitoring tools, and backup software is essential. Furthermore, you should have a strong background in performance tuning, developing T-SQL stored procedures, and administering SSIS, SSRS, and SSAS. A Microsoft Certified IT Professional: Database Administrator certification is required for this role.

Responsibilities

  • Perform database installations, upgrades, migrations, and patching.
  • Set up database security roles, access rights, and controls, including Active Directory authentication.
  • Implement high availability and disaster recovery solutions.
  • Automate database operations and maintenance tasks using Powershell and T-SQL scripting.
  • Design database objects and manage partitioning.
  • Monitor database performance and optimize T-SQL queries, index design, and tuning.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in computer science, computer engineering, information systems, or a related technical field.
  • 5 years of experience in SQL server installations, clustering, high-availability, upgrades, migrations, and database failover mechanisms.
  • 3 years of experience in SQL server system internals, resource management, distributed computing, Powershell scripting, and database monitoring tools.
  • 4 years of experience in production database environments, performance and index tuning, and optimizing SQL code.
  • 2 years of experience in data modeling, MSMQ, and VSTS.
  • Must be a Microsoft Certified IT Professional: Database Administrator or Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist: SQL Server, Implementation and Maintenance.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with cloud database solutions, particularly Azure SQL.
  • Familiarity with database security practices and TDE (Transparent Data Encryption).
  • Knowledge of SSIS, SSRS, and SSAS for data integration and reporting.
