About the position

The Sr. Database Administrator is responsible for managing and optimizing database systems, ensuring high performance, scalability, and stability. This role involves collaborating with various teams to design and implement effective database solutions, automate processes in AWS, and provide technical support. The position requires a strong focus on data standards, disaster recovery, and continuous improvement of database operations.

Responsibilities

  • Creating and maintaining high performance, scalable, and stable database solutions.
  • Working with customers, deployment squads, and product management to identify and document use case scenarios.
  • Leading all data solution aspects including setting data standards and providing technical expertise to development teams.
  • Designing database solutions that are highly available and meet disaster recovery requirements.
  • Designing effective data store solutions that account for capacity planning, data tiering, and data life-cycle management.
  • Developing and maintaining automated systems for AWS Cloud-based products and services.
  • Troubleshooting issues with automations and ensuring efficient solutions.
  • Collaborating with team members for effective and efficient automations.
  • Evaluating existing automation processes and identifying areas for improvement.
  • Monitoring and validating performance and functionality of automated processes to ensure objectives are met.
  • Developing and maintaining documentation for automated processes and ensuring knowledge transfer.
  • Mentoring team members on new technologies and automation processes.
  • Working with QA to create detailed test plans and needed tooling for performance targeting.
  • Ensuring successful delivery of solutions, training, and documentation internally and with customers.
  • Recommending solutions to improve new and existing database systems.
  • Participating in code reviews and creating documentation for engineering and cross-functional practices.
  • Working with cross-functional teams to ensure end-to-end technical and business viability.
  • Learning new database technologies as necessary.

Requirements

  • Experience with database automation in AWS with RDS, preferably Oracle/Postgres.
  • Strong knowledge of database management and administration tools.
  • Ability to create and maintain high-performance database solutions.
  • Experience in designing disaster recovery solutions and capacity planning.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting database issues and performance tuning.
  • Experience in providing technical support and mentoring team members.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with various database technologies and cloud services.
  • Experience in compliance and security management for databases.
  • Knowledge of scripting for database maintenance and automation.
