About the position

The position requires a highly skilled SQL Server DBA with over five years of expert-level experience. The candidate will be responsible for managing SQL Server databases, ensuring their performance, security, and availability. The role involves working with SQL scripting, stored procedures, triggers, functions, and transaction analysis, along with a thorough understanding of indices and statistics. The candidate will also need to have experience with Microsoft replication and SQL Server Clustering, with a strong proficiency in Microsoft SQL Server 2000 and 2005 administration and operations. Additionally, the role requires knowledge of Windows server operating systems and the ability to work in multi-platform environments. The DBA will be expected to optimize databases, plan capacity, and manage backup and recovery processes. The position also involves creating and maintaining DTS and SSIS packages for data transformation.

Responsibilities

• Manage SQL Server databases and ensure their performance, security, and availability.
• Work with SQL scripting, stored procedures, triggers, functions, and transaction analysis.
• Understand indices and statistics for database optimization.
• Implement Microsoft replication and SQL Server Clustering.
• Administer Microsoft SQL Server 2000 and 2005.
• Utilize Microsoft SQL Server 2000 and 2005 reporting services.
• Maintain knowledge of Windows server operating systems and multi-platform environments.
• Perform database sizing, capacity planning, and backup & recovery.
• Conduct SQL tuning and performance monitoring.
• Create and maintain DTS and SSIS packages for data transformation.

Requirements

• Five or more years of SQL Server DBA experience at an expert level.
• Experience with SQL scripting, stored procedures, triggers, functions, and transaction analysis.
• Thorough understanding of indices and statistics.
• Experience with Microsoft replication.
• Experience with Microsoft SQL Server Clustering is a plus.
• Proficient in Microsoft SQL Server 2000 and 2005 administration and operations.
• Experience with Microsoft SQL Server 2000 and 2005 reporting services.
• Working knowledge of Windows server operating systems.
• Strong optimization, database sizing, capacity planning, backup & recovery skills.
• Experience with SQL tuning and performance monitoring.
• Ability to create and maintain DTS and SSIS packages.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent time management, organizational, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
• Proven production support background of application databases in a 24x7 environment.
