About the position

The Database Administrator position at Virtuous Tek Inc involves a comprehensive role in architecting, designing, implementing, and supporting cloud-based database infrastructure. The successful candidate will work on large and complex database and application deployment projects, including migration, patching, consolidation, and upgrades. A significant aspect of the role includes migrating databases and schema objects from on-premises environments to cloud environments, specifically utilizing AWS services such as RDS and EC2. The position requires expertise in installing, configuring, and upgrading SQL Server and PostgreSQL Aurora, with a focus on using Terraform and CI/CD pipelines to streamline these processes. In addition to the technical responsibilities, the role also involves automating database and schema refreshes using shell scripting or Python. The candidate will be expected to work with monitoring tools such as New Relic or Foglight, setting up alerts and dashboards for RDS instances to ensure optimal performance and reliability. The development of complex database objects, including stored procedures, functions, packages, and triggers using SQL and T-SQL, is also a key responsibility. The position is structured to work under supervision, and candidates should be prepared for travel and/or relocation to unanticipated client sites across the USA as required. This role is ideal for individuals with a strong background in database management and cloud technologies, particularly those who have experience with SQL Server, SSIS, AWS, and SSRS. Responsibilities

  • Architect, design, implement, and support cloud-based database infrastructure.
  • Work on large, complex database/application deployment, migration, patching, consolidation, and upgrade projects.
  • Migrate databases/schema objects from on-premises to cloud environments.
  • Install, configure, and upgrade SQL Server and PostgreSQL Aurora in AWS RDS/EC2 instances using Terraform and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Automate database/schema refreshes using shell scripting or Python.
  • Utilize New Relic or Foglight monitoring tools to set up alerts and dashboards for RDS instances.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, IS, Engineering (any), Commerce, or a related field.
  • 24 months of experience in the job offered or as an IT Consultant/Analyst/Programmer/Developer/Administrator or closely related role.
  • Experience with SQL Server, SSIS, AWS, and SSRS.
