About the position

We are seeking a skilled Database Administrator to join our team located in SAN ANTONIO, Texas. This role is pivotal in managing and maintaining our database systems, ensuring high levels of performance, availability, and security. You will be working in the IT industry, collaborating with various teams to optimize data flows and implement changes to enhance database performance. As a Database Administrator, you will be responsible for overseeing the integrity and security of our databases, ensuring that they are functioning optimally and are accessible to authorized users. You will also play a key role in the design and structure of databases and schemas, monitoring their performance and making necessary adjustments to improve efficiency. In addition to managing database systems, you will implement and oversee data integration processes, ensuring accurate and efficient data exchange between systems. You will collaborate with the IT Service Desk team to resolve database-related issues and provide support to users. Working closely with Business Intelligence and Analytics teams, you will develop data models, support reporting needs, and optimize data flows to meet the organization's requirements. Your expertise in ETL/ELT processes will be essential as you integrate data from various sources into Snowflake, ensuring that our data architecture is robust and scalable. You will also be responsible for identifying, evaluating, and recommending hardware or software technologies to achieve desired database performance. This may include managing user access and security role development, entering and revising data dictionary definitions, and merging older databases with current databases. Your role will require a strong understanding of database management principles and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team, ensuring that our database systems are secure, efficient, and aligned with industry standards.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain database systems, ensuring high levels of performance, availability and security.
  • Implement, oversee, and manage data integration processes, ensuring accurate and efficient data exchange between systems.
  • Design and structure databases and schemas, and monitor database performance.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain database policies, procedures, and standards, ensuring compliance with industry regulations.
  • Collaborate with the IT Service Desk team to resolve database-related issues and provide support.
  • Work closely with Business Intelligence and Analytics teams to develop data models, support reporting needs, and optimize data flows.
  • Use ETL/ELT processes to integrate data from various sources into Snowflake.
  • Identify, evaluate, and recommend hardware or software technologies to achieve desired database performance.
  • May manage user access and security role development.
  • May enter and revise data dictionary definitions.
  • May merge older databases with current databases.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Database Administrator or similar role.
  • Proficient in Database Management and Administration.
  • Experience with EO/IR systems is required.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Azure and Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Experience with MySQL is necessary.
  • Familiarity with Backup Technologies.
  • Knowledge of Cluster Analysis.
  • Experience in Configuration Management.
  • Strong understanding of Design controls.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • Exceptional ability to problem solve and debug.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Highly organized with attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
