About the position

As a Database Administrator at RedMane Technology LLC, you will be immersed in a collaborative environment where your primary responsibilities will include configuring, maintaining, supporting, and tuning application databases, with a strong emphasis on cloud-based solutions. Your role will involve researching and conducting proofs-of-concept on new technologies that can enhance our ability to support our clients effectively. We are looking for someone who is not only technically skilled but also possesses an inquisitive nature and a strong desire to learn and grow within the field. In this position, you will be expected to constantly improve your skill set and share your knowledge with your team members. Participation in daily team stand-ups will be a key part of your routine, allowing for open communication and collaboration. You will also be responsible for completing level 2 and level 3 support tickets, analyzing issues to determine root causes, and implementing solutions to resolve them. Your contributions will directly impact the efficiency and effectiveness of our database management practices, ensuring that we meet the needs of our clients in a timely and professional manner.

Responsibilities

  • Configure, maintain, support, and tune application databases primarily in the cloud.
  • Research and conduct proofs-of-concept on new technologies to improve client support.
  • Participate in daily team stand-ups to foster collaboration and communication.
  • Complete level 2 and level 3 support tickets as needed.
  • Analyze issues to determine root causes and implement solutions to resolve them.
  • Constantly improve skill set and share new knowledge with team members.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science or a related field preferred.
  • Experience with database management systems including DB2, MS SQL, and Postgres.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Azure and/or AWS and their database services.
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices.
  • Understanding of IT Operations best practices in a 24/7/365 service model.
  • Experience designing, configuring, implementing, monitoring, and maintaining databases in cloud environments.
  • Experience with tuning large databases to optimize performance.
  • Interest in and willingness to learn diverse technologies.
  • Understanding of computer virtualization, networking fundamentals, scripting, and automation.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with cloud environments in Microsoft Azure and/or AWS.
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices.
