Database Administrator

About the position

Marex is seeking a Database Administrator responsible for providing daily support and administration of Marex’s database stack including engineering and related projects. The role involves working closely with other infrastructure, development, and support teams. This role is located at the Chicago, IL, USA offices (222 W. Adams Chicago IL) and it is for 3 days per week in-office.

Responsibilities

• Manage Marex’s database stack.
• Assist with daily management of the database architecture covering Production and Non-Production environment.
• Develop best practice standards within the data team and work with development teams to ensure these standards are adhered to.
• Continual development about latest technologies in the data space.
• Capacity planning of database server estate.
• Ensure high availability of the database infrastructure to minimize the duration and impact of any outages.
• Maintain a consistently high level of service delivery for incidents, requests, and changes.
• Provide database support and advice to other infrastructure teams as well as developers and end users.
• Maintain database security standards across the business’ database estate.
• Participate in on-call support efforts.
• Ensuring compliance with the company’s regulatory requirements under the SEC, FINRA, NFA, CFTC and other applicable exchanges.
• Adhere to the operational risk framework for your role ensuring that all regulatory or company determined parameters are complied with.
• Role model for demonstrating highest level standards of integrity and conduct and reflecting Company Values.
• Comply with Marex’s Code of Conduct.
• Report any breaches of policy to Compliance and/or your supervisor as required.
• Escalate risk events immediately.
• Provide input to risk management processes, as required.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field desired.
• At least three (3) years experience in database administration or similar discipline.
• Strong technical knowledge of SQL Server Database.
• Advance Scripting skills such as T-SQL, PL-SQL.
• Other Scripting skills such as PowerShell, Python etc.
• High Availability and Disaster Recovery such as SQL Always on etc.
• Ability to demonstrate performance diagnosis and tuning techniques including database internals, OS, Storage and Query Processor Fundamentals.
• Experience of data cloud technologies - AWS RDS/Azure Managed instance etc.
• Administration of alternative database technologies such as ORACLE, MongoDB desired.
• Experience with AWS/Azure/ORACLE OCI desired.
• Broad technical understanding of Windows/Linux desired.
• Experience working in an Agile/SCRUM environment desired.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience working in a regulated environment and knowledge of the risk and compliance requirements associated with this.

Benefits

• Salary Range: $100,000 to $150,000 per year and eligible for discretionary bonus.
