About the position

The Database Administrator (All Levels) position at Amentum supports the Cyber Security & Information Assurance (CSIA) Support Services office, providing essential database management services to the U.S. Army Combat Capabilities Development Command. The role involves administering databases, ensuring performance, and coordinating changes while working closely with clients and government project leads.

Responsibilities

  • Administrates organization's database using database management systems to organize and store data.
  • Ascertains user requirements, creates computer databases, and tests and coordinates changes.
  • Interacts with development and end-user personnel to determine application data access requirements and transaction rates.
  • Ensures performance of the database and coordinates physical changes to computer databases.
  • Codes, tests, and implements physical database changes, applying knowledge of database management systems.
  • Designs logical and physical databases or reviews changes to understand their impact on the physical database.
  • Establishes physical database parameters and codes database descriptions.
  • Calculates optimum values for database parameters, such as memory usage.
  • Specifies user access levels for data items and manages user access to databases.
  • Tests and corrects errors, refines changes to the database, and enters codes to create production databases.
  • Selects and enters codes of utility programs to monitor database performance.
  • Directs programmers and analysts to make changes to the database management system and reviews programs.
  • Answers user questions and confers with co-workers to determine the impact of database changes.
  • Modifies database programs to increase processing performance and may train users.
  • Keeps data secure by managing access, privileges, and information migration.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, electronics engineering, or other technical discipline.
  • 10+ years of experience in database administration.
  • 8 years of additional relevant experience may substitute for education.
  • Must have an Active TOP SECRET US Government Clearance.
