About the position

Genesis10 is currently seeking a Database Administrator with our client in the financial industry located in Jersey City, NJ and Chicago, IL. This is a 12 + month contract position. The Database Administrator will be responsible for developing tools, automations, and self-healing processes to improve the operational consistency, reliability, and scalability of our global database infrastructure. The goal is to reduce toil and increase efficiency across all lines of business. The role involves collaboration with the Design, Build, and Operate DBA teams to achieve standardization of processes and approaches. Clear documentation of developed tools and processes is essential for easy end-user understanding and ongoing support of the code. The Database Administrator will also be involved in incident management and response, identifying sources of instability in distributed systems, and driving operational excellence. Additionally, the role includes developing metrics and dashboards to monitor performance and efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Develop tools, automations, and self-healing processes to improve operational consistency, reliability, and scalability of the database infrastructure.
• Collaborate with Design, Build, and Operate DBA teams to standardize processes across all lines of business.
• Document developed tools and processes for easy end-user understanding and ongoing support.
• Participate in incident management and response activities.
• Identify sources of instability in distributed systems and drive operational excellence.
• Develop metrics and dashboards to monitor database performance.

Requirements

• Experience with databases such as PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Oracle, and SQL Server.
• Proficiency in shell scripting.
• Familiarity with Agile development methodology.
• Experience with Python programming.
• Knowledge of JIRA for project management.
• Experience with Bitbucket for version control.
• Proficiency in PowerShell scripting.
