About the position

Genesis10 is currently seeking a Database Administrator with our client in the financial industry located in Plano, TX, Charlotte, NC, and Pennington, NJ. This is a 12+ month contract position. The Database Administrator will be responsible for designing, developing, implementing, enhancing, and supporting database systems that align with business goals. The role encompasses all aspects of database design, including replication, performance monitoring and tuning, backup and recovery, scripting, software installation and upgrades, troubleshooting, and proactively maintaining production databases that utilize multiple master replication with Golden-Gate. The position requires collaboration with other operations teams to maximize availability in both current and planned systems. The Database Administrator will provide backup, restore, and replication support for production databases, administer database users and security in accordance with enterprise-wide guidelines, and create and maintain comprehensive documentation of all production policies, procedures, server configurations, error logs, maintenance records, and troubleshooting instructions. The individual will be expected to identify, troubleshoot, resolve, and communicate issues affecting systems, servers, and database-related products, and will be viewed as the subject matter expert for the team. In addition, the Database Administrator will manage multiple moderately complex projects and direct team activities related to special initiatives or operations. The role requires working under minimal supervision, with general guidance from more seasoned consultants or managers, and involves tackling complex problems where analysis of situations or data necessitates an in-depth evaluation of various factors. The individual will exercise judgment within broadly defined practices and policies in selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results, and may provide work leadership by assigning tasks and resolving problems.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, implement, enhance, and support database systems in support of business goals.
  • Design databases for replication, performance monitoring and tuning, backup and recovery, scripting, software installation and upgrades, and troubleshooting.
  • Proactively maintain production databases running multiple master replication utilizing Golden-Gate.
  • Partner with other operations teams to maximize availability in current and planned systems.
  • Provide backup, restore, and replication support for production databases.
  • Administer database users and database security in accordance with mandatory enterprise-wide guidelines.
  • Create and maintain documentation of all production policies, procedures, server configurations, error logs, maintenance records, and product troubleshooting instructions.
  • Identify, troubleshoot, resolve, and communicate issues that affect the systems, servers, and database-related products.
  • Act as the subject matter expert for the team.
  • Manage multiple, moderately complex projects and direct activities of a team related to special initiatives or operations.
  • Work under minimal supervision, with general guidance from more seasoned consultants or managers.
  • Work on complex problems requiring in-depth evaluation of various factors.
  • Exercise judgment within broadly defined practices and policies in selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.

Requirements

  • 10+ years' experience with Oracle Database Administration.
  • 5-6 years' experience with Oracle Exadata Administration.
  • Experience with Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM).
  • 5-6 years' experience with Oracle Golden Gate.
  • 5-6 years' experience with Linux shell scripting.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • In-depth understanding of High Availability and Disaster Recovery requirements and solutions.
  • Experience with classic and integrated replicate, Golden Gate implementation, troubleshooting, and monitoring.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Oracle ZFS appliance.
  • Exposure to Foglight Monitoring tool.
  • Project management and oversight.
