About the position

The Database Administrator (DBA) position at Chenega Corporation involves managing Oracle and Postgres databases, focusing on installation, configuration, design, and data migration within Aeronautical Production Systems. This role emphasizes modernization and cloud migration, particularly transitioning Oracle databases to AWS Cloud. The DBA will support system improvements, develop data migration strategies, and document best practices while working in a collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

  • Support Oracle database migration from on-premise to AWS Cloud leveraging RDS managed service.
  • Analyze and evaluate system improvements, optimization, development, and maintenance efforts.
  • Conduct feasibility studies of Oracle vs Postgres database options across cloud system architectures.
  • Provide Subject Matter Expertise (SME) level input to lead Engineering studies regarding proposed solutions.
  • Develop long-term and short-term requirements for database administration and design.
  • Create and implement data migration strategies.
  • Modify Oracle functions to produce additional data outputs.
  • Modernize databases to utilize and implement Spatial functionality.
  • Document database procedures and best practices.
  • Manage and maintain Oracle databases, including migration of version updates.
  • Maintain and optimize spatial data in Oracle.
  • Potentially convert Oracle database to PostgreSQL.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related discipline with 4+ years of relevant experience OR Master's Degree in a related discipline with 2+ years of relevant experience.
  • Active TS/SCI Clearance.
  • Experience in front end and back-end test verification.
  • Experience maintaining operational Oracle databases for mission-critical systems.
  • Experience scripting for views, functions, and queries.
  • Experience with query tuning for database optimization.
  • Experience with cloud-first, AWS native architectures and RDS managed service.
  • Prior experience using Oracle SQL/PLSQL, and SQL in general.
  • Previous experience scripting with Bash/Linux shell scripting.
  • Familiarity with the pace and environment of a SAFe Agile and DevOps development environment.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively within a team setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with diverse internal and external stakeholders.

Nice-to-haves

  • Good problem-solving skills with the ability to visualize a problem or situation and think abstractly to solve it.
  • Previous customer service experience strongly desired.
  • Excellent skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and other Office applications.
