About the position

As a Database Administrator at Wisestep-Inc, you will play a critical role in managing and maintaining our database systems to ensure their reliability, performance, and security. You will be responsible for the installation, configuration, and upgrading of database servers and application tools, as well as monitoring and optimizing database performance. Your expertise in EDB Postgres, along with secondary proficiency in Oracle and MS-SQL, will be essential in supporting our data management needs. You will also be tasked with implementing backup and recovery strategies, ensuring data integrity, and performing regular database maintenance tasks. In this position, you will collaborate with other IT professionals to design and implement database solutions that meet the needs of our organization. You will be expected to troubleshoot database issues, provide technical support, and develop documentation for database processes and procedures. Your strong knowledge of Unix/Linux operating systems will be crucial as you work with various database environments. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to work with cloud platforms such as AWS and Azure, enhancing our database capabilities in a cloud environment. The ideal candidate will possess excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain EDB Postgres, Oracle, and MS-SQL databases.
  • Install, configure, and upgrade database servers and application tools.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical or STEM major.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in EDB Postgres, Oracle, and MS-SQL Database Administration.
  • Proven experience as a Database Administrator with expertise in EDB Postgres.
  • Secondary proficiency in Oracle and MS-SQL database administration is required.
  • Strong knowledge of Unix/Linux operating systems.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as PowerShell and Unix shell scripting.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Nice-to-haves
