This Database Administrator should love the challenge of solving problems with multiple layers of complexity. If you are an efficient problem solver with highly tuned decision-making skills, this may be the position for you. The role involves installing, configuring, and maintaining all SQL Server instances across development, staging, and production environments. You will ensure that the database server topology, configuration, and maintenance are designed and executed to meet SLA objectives. Additionally, you will advise on database design, tuning options, and other potential issues that may arise. In this position, you will be responsible for fixing SQL Server service outages as they occur, including after hours and weekends. You will also configure SQL Server monitoring utilities to minimize false alarms and baseline system performance while monitoring for deviations. When performance issues arise, you will figure out the most effective way to increase performance, which may include hardware purchases, server configuration changes, or index/query changes. Your expertise will be crucial in ensuring the smooth operation of the database systems and in implementing improvements to slow-running queries.
