About the position

Leidos is seeking a skilled Database Administrator (DBA) to join our technical team in Annapolis Junction, MD. This position is part of a significant multi-year contract that involves the development, integration, deployment, and maintenance of large collection systems critical to government operations. As a DBA, you will support various database management systems (DBMS) including Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL, and MariaDB, ensuring their integrity, security, and high availability. Your role will involve implementing policies and procedures for database management, conducting performance analysis and tuning, and maintaining indexes and patches. You will also be responsible for disaster recovery procedures and data monitoring, working closely with the Database Engineer (DBE) to optimize PL/SQL and SQL performance, and to recommend new tools and strategies that align with business requirements. Responsibilities

  • Support Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL, and MariaDB database management systems for various applications.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure database integrity, security, and high availability.
  • Implement database installation procedures and disaster recovery steps.
  • Conduct performance analysis and tuning, including index maintenance and patching/IAVA mitigations.
  • Monitor data and ensure compliance with security protocols.
  • Collaborate with the Database Engineer to implement PL/SQL and SQL performance tuning and architecture changes.
  • Evaluate and recommend new DBMS tools, strategies, and technologies.

Requirements

  • Active TS/SCI with polygraph security clearance.
  • Ten (10) years of experience as a DBA in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline from an accredited college or university, or four (4) years of additional DBA experience in lieu of a degree.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL, and/or MariaDB database administration in production environments.
  • Knowledge of high availability configuration using Oracle Dataguard, PostgreSQL, MySQL replication, and/or MariaDB Galera clusters.
  • Experience with database system patching, including Oracle quarterly patching and IAVA mitigations.
  • Familiarity with Oracle Enterprise Manager Cloud Control administration.
  • Experience with PL/SQL programming, SQL query analysis, and search optimization.
  • Familiarity with Linux tooling such as iotop, vmstat, nmap, OpenSSL, grep, ping, find, df, ssh, and dnf.
  • Familiarity with Oracle SQL Developer, Oracle DataModeler, pgadmin, PHPMyAdmin, and MySQL Workbench.
  • Familiarity with Amazon RDS and NoSQL databases such as MongoDB and/or Amazon DocumentDB.
