Amentum is seeking a Database Administrator for a position on Kauai, HI, supporting the IT Department. The Database Administrator (DBA) is responsible for managing and maintaining databases, ensuring that data is accurate and secure from breaches. This role involves performing database capacity planning, configuration, performance monitoring, security, troubleshooting, as well as backup and data recovery. The DBA will provide administrative support for various database systems, including Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server, and will participate in Information Assurance compliance procedures and controls for application software and systems. The DBA will establish an overall vision and direction for improving database administrative and security operations. Responsibilities include database system administration and configuration, workflow development, and administration, along with a significant role in end-user support. The DBA will ensure the overall performance, reliability, and security of data, databases, and related applications. This includes managing database structures by monitoring performance and adjusting internal structures as required, developing and implementing backup and recovery strategies to protect critical data, and performing regular backups and testing recovery procedures to minimize the risk of data loss. Additionally, the DBA will be involved in the planning, designing, creating, installing, customizing, upgrading, and maintaining databases to meet government and contractor-defined requirements. The role also includes assisting with production incidents and resolutions, collaborating with other teams to ensure seamless integration and efficient database operations, and documenting databases, procedures, and deployed applications. The DBA will provide training for new users or for new application products and must be capable of working in a team environment, participating in technical activities throughout the project life cycle, and maintaining close technical involvement with all contributing organizations. Effective oral and written communication and interpersonal skills are required, along with the ability to perform other duties as required, including property custodian responsibilities.
