About the position

The Database Administrator position involves performing highly advanced database administration tasks, including evaluation, review, and planning under the direction of the Section Director. The role is crucial for ensuring efficient and effective storage, retrieval, customization, security protocols, and archiving of data, which are essential for integrated database systems. The Database Administrator will be responsible for planning, developing, and implementing database policies and procedures while maintaining and verifying data integrity. This position also requires participation in business analysis, process planning, and the development and implementation of agency policies and procedures. In this role, the Database Administrator will coordinate projects and team activities to achieve the goals and objectives of the Section. They will study and analyze operations and issues, preparing reports of findings and recommendations across various points of service. The position includes preparing and assisting in the preparation of administrative reports, studies, and specialized technical projects. The Database Administrator will provide consultative services and technical assistance to plan, implement, and monitor effective programs and services, working closely with program staff to identify trends and resolve technical issues. The role requires the ability to review and evaluate information on service delivery system methods, outputs, and activities to identify resource gaps and recommend improvements. The Database Administrator will develop procedures and workflows and will work under minimal supervision, exercising extensive initiative and independent judgment. Regular attendance and the performance of other assigned duties are also expected.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct detailed studies and reviews, defining problems in areas such as administrative practices, workflow, and other business processes.
  • Develop management/workflow reporting tools for program areas and compile and analyze statistical information to assist management in decision-making.
  • Assist with tracking the development and approval of business process, system, and reporting requirements, coordinating with program and IT staff.
  • Develop workflow procedures and provide training, technical assistance, and information-sharing to program staff.
  • Participate in disaster response and/or recovery or Continuity of Operations (COOP) activation as needed.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of business and management principles involved in business evaluation, strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership techniques, and project management principles and practices.
  • Skill in business, program, and system analysis; developing goals, objectives, and procedures to monitor and evaluate progress.
  • Experience in analyzing statistical information and translating complex technical information for non-technical audiences.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge with the development of management/workflow reporting tools for program areas.
